After School Site Coordinator

EdVenture Children’s Museum provides after school care to 5 schools in the Richland One school district. EdVenture seeks a part-time after school site coordinator responsible for overseeing the delivery of programming, supervision of children and administrative duties as assigned at a designated school site. The coordinator will plan, develop, and manage program implementation, provide a safe and educational atmosphere for all students, supervise program staff and perform related administrative duties. Applicants must have experience working with children, leading a team and be Education majors and / or have a strong desire to inspire and mentor children ages 4-12 years old. Applicants should have some experience with planning, developing and implementing programming, strong communication skills, and the ability to cultivate relationships with parents, caregivers, school personnel and students. Minimum HS diploma/college experience preferred. Afterschool hours are 2:00-6:00 Monday-Friday, school holidays and occasional Saturdays. Exhibit Services Manager

EdVenture Children’s Museum, the South’s largest children’s museum with eight world-class exhibit galleries, seeks an Exhibit Services Manager to join its creative and dynamic team.  This position serves as a lead exhibit services professional responsible for ensuring that all permanent, temporary and traveling exhibits provide museum visitors an exceptional experience.  The Exhibit Services Manager has responsibility for the design, re-design, fabrication, installation, repair and maintenance of all exhibits, while offering responsive, high-quality customer service, maintaining EdVenture’s reputation as a premier children’s museum.

Regular schedule of 40 hours per week. Additional evening and weekend hours required as necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the museum’s daily exhibit functions, including maintenance and repair issues in a timely manner to provide an excellent experience for museum visitors
  • Providing project management of on-site exhibit development, design, fabrication, and installation.  Works to ensure all projects meet EdVenture’s mission, as well as quality and safety expectations
  • Supervising exhibits team including hiring, training, and evaluating exhibits technician and part-time exhibit support (including volunteers)
  • Directing arrival, maintenance and exit strategies for all traveling exhibits, including those traveled by EdVenture, and ensuring incoming traveling exhibits meet EdVenture standards.  Maintains updated calendar of arrival, unveiling, breakdown and departure, as well as communication with producing and host institutions
  • Managing other fabrication projects, including school and public programming props

Qualifications include:

  • BA/BS degree in related field required with five years experience in museum exhibit design, fabrication and repair, with at least two years of experience in hands-on exhibits work at a science center or children’s museum, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. 
  • Must have experience with reading and interpreting design and architectural drawings. 
  • Must have project and staff management expertise, strong organization and communication skills, good interpersonal skills, pleasant personality, commitment to diversity, ability to work as a team player, ability to meet deadlines, discretion and good judgment in daily activities. 

Other Requirements:

  • Proficient with design software (i.e. CAD), construction and fabrication equipment, as well as with computer programs, such as MS Office systems, is appreciated.
  • Skilled with various power tools, lifts, ladders, computer, phone, fax, calculator, copier

Director of Marketing and Sales

Exciting position now available for a high energy, creative, results-oriented leader at EdVenture, the South’s largest children’s museum. The Marketing and Sales department leads EdVenture’s efforts to attract more than 225,000 visitors (families and groups) by developing and communicating the EdVenture brand through marketing, paid and pro-bono advertising, social media strategies, and public/media relations. The Director leads a team of talented professionals and oversees all external communication strategies; directs sales and marketing strategies generating $1.3million in earned revenue; and works to build the brand of EdVenture as a leader in innovative informal education and experiential learning. Master of both the big picture and the necessary details for success, the Director should bring strong writing and creative skills to EdVenture flexible and fast-paced environment. Competitive candidates should have a minimum of five years experience in a similar work environment serving the public and/or senior agency experience with degree(s) in marketing, business or related field. Special Projects Coordinator

This grant-funded position will work to support the development, maintenance and expansion of major museum initiatives, including the Hands-On, Minds-On Summer Teacher Institute (HMO), the “Unlocking the Mysteries” project and the Next Generation Exhibit Master Plan, as well as outreach initiatives.
Work Schedule and Conditions

Regular schedule of 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in education, business and/or liberal arts/sciences. Minimum of two years experience in related activities in project coordination, education, and/or communications. Should be a team player and have an understanding of hands-on and informal learning in a museum setting, a commitment to providing high quality guest services, and knowledge of evaluation techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer literacy required, including MS Office.
