Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer – FT Exempt
Talented candidates will enjoy a fast-paced work environment that requires them to provide administrative support to CEO, collaborate with professional staff and support the work of EdVenture’s Board of Trustees and other volunteer committees and task forces. Blend of regular daily activities (scheduling, correspondence, meeting planning) with major projects undertaken in collaboration with CEO (board training, research projects, presentations) require a mature, highly organized professional. Ability to function with minimal supervision, affinity for planning, high level of professionalism in written and verbal communication are all necessary attributes for a successful candidate. Excellent MS Office skills and a commitment to excellence are essential. With no two days the same, the successful candidate will enjoy working with a diverse staff that uses humor and teamwork to accomplish their jobs.
Minimum qualifications: At least five years of experience in similar executive office environment, college degree preferred. Excellent MS Office experience. Must have pleasant personality, good interpersonal skills, commitment to diversity, ability to work as a team player and to anticipate needs of CEO and museum, discretion, attention to details, patience to be flexible when necessary, and good judgment in daily activities. Museum Store Manager & Buyer
EdVenture Children’s Museum seeks an energetic, organized and customer-focused Museum Store Manager/Buyer to plan, direct, and lead all retail activities in the museum store. The Retail Manager is responsible for ensuring an excellent visitor experience, selecting creative and educational merchandise, creatively organizing and maintaining the overall look of the store and meeting monthly sales goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing and promoting outstanding customer service
- Working in the store with visitors
- Staff - hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling retail staff
- Merchandise - selecting, purchasing, pricing, and maintaining educational, healthy and unique stock
- Visual merchandising - organizing and displaying
- Annual inventory
- Museum product development
- Budgeting
- Cash management
Qualifications include:
- College degree preferred with a minimum of two years experience in retail and/or museum retail. Extensive related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- The candidate must enjoy children and have an open mind for creative and new ideas.
- Must have pleasant personality, good interpersonal skills, staff management experience, professional and groomed appearance, strong organization and communication skills, commitment to diversity, ability to work as a team player, ability to meet deadlines, discretion and good judgment in daily activities.
- Effective verbal and written communication and computer skills are important. Strong computer skills, experience with retail/inventory systems (i.e. The General Store Retail Software) preferred
Other Requirements:
- Physically must be able to lift and carry at least 25lbs., bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as needed.

EdVenture is looking to hire staff to conduct programming in six Richland District One schools for the 2009-2010 school year. Desirable applicants will have experience working with children, are Education majors and / or have a strong desire to inspire and mentor children ages 4-12 years old.
