"From Here to Timbuktu"
through January 11, 2009
From Here to
Timbuktu
takes visitors on a journey through West Africa’s
spectacular and diverse geographic regions. Along the way
children and adults alike are immersed in
an adventure of discovery as they learn about the rhythm of
West African life. In each geographic region children are
introduced to the foodways, customs and culture of the
people who call that area home. Travel
from the coastal cities, through the
treetops of mountain rainforests and make
your way to the open-air family compound on
the Savannah. Finally, trek the last leg of
the journey to find Timbuktu, an ancient
center of learning.
"Cyberchase - The Chase Is On!"
February 2, 2008 until May 26, 2008
Based on the award-winning PBS KIDS GO! series CYBERCHASE,
our newest traveling exhibit will invite children to join
the CyberSquad on an action-packed adventure to thwart
Hacker, the TV show's nefarious villain, by using math and
reasoning skills. Kids can reinstall "power circuits,"
pedal to a million on the Cyber Cycle, explore probability,
and strategize a winning plan in the Dragon Dilemma
problem-solving challenge. Visit the
CYBERCHASE
series home page
on the PBS KIDS website to learn about your favorite
CyberSquad characters and play educational games.
CYBERCHASE is part of EdVenture's Math and Science
Initiative and is proudly supported by AT&T and Carolina
Ceramics.
"Bubbleloosa"
May 3, 2008
until September 30, 2008
Bubbles are on the
loose again this summer in EdVenture’s outdoor exhibit,
BUBBLELOOSA! Children can become a bubbleologist for an
afternoon and explore the shapes, sizes and colors of
bubbles. With our extreme bubble blower that cranks out
25,000 bubbles per minute, bubbles are sure to be floating
all over this summer.
"AirPlay"
June 7, 2008 until September 2, 2008
Air may be invisible, but it is all around us, all
the time. "AirPlay" provides visitors with the tools to
explore the nature of air--how
it moves and influences our environment. Air blowers propel
bright yellow foam balls through air mazes; a tube tunnel
demonstrates how air moves through tubing, angles, and tees;
model sailboats move along a tabletop, driven by the force
from a bank of fans; and an air cannon shoots a puff of air
all the way across a room. Visitors can paint a wall of
fluttering "shimmer disks" with a spray of air and race
balls to learn the effects of turbulence. Visitors make
discoveries about how objects behave in an air stream and
balance objects on multiple streams of air. Sponsored by the
City of Forest Acres.
"Chagall for Children" (Fall
2008 at EdVenture)
September 13, 2008 until January 5, 2009
Chagall for Children focuses on the works of
renowned artist Marc Chagall. This pioneering exhibit is a
unique approach to introducing children to art through the
life and work of a master artist, helping children and
adults alike develop a greater understanding and
appreciation of all forms of artistic expression. The
exhibit is designed to engage visitors in the exploration of
both art and the artist through 15 interactive,
multi-sensory components. Each component features one of
Chagall's works with an accompanying hands-on activity in a
variety of media that encourages the visitor to explore and
work with specific art principals such as color,
composition, light and texture. Many stations are
accompanied with audio descriptions, highlighting
information about the artwork upon which the interactive is
based. An extensive selection of books about the artist is
provided to encourage further exploration and to stimulate
literacy learning.

lives in a garbage can! Garbagena is a
fun, hands-on educational resource designed
to teach children about recycling,
environmental science and awareness.
Kids can reach into her stomach and become a
