From the Mountains to the Sea
In My Backyard, children learn through play while you take time to relax. Designed for children three and younger, this exhibit gives our youngest visitors a quiet place to explore tactile, interactive environments to stimulate the senses. Young children explore the beach, forest and mountains without ever stepping outside. This colorful play space reflects the diverse flora, fauna and geography of South Carolina, making this a warm, safe setting for youngsters to play. Crawlers can explore a variety of textures, surfaces and objects to grab and pull up on while learning to stand. Early walkers will find climbing, sliding and hiding areas designed to develop large motor skills.
Toddlers can set sail on the Little S.S. Shrimpy and explore a giant tree house that serves as a special storytelling space and puppet show theater. Babies can explore the Pollywog Pond, a soft-sculpted area for those learning to sit up and crawl. My Backyard is complete with a family bathroom, stroller parking and nursing area.
