Kick off National Reading Month with a meet and greet with Elephant and Piggie! Elephant and Piggie is a book series for early readers created by Mo Willems. The series is done in a comic book style, and features two friends: an elephant named Gerald, and a pig named Piggie.

Celebrate Reading Month with our very first Author's Fair! Meet award-winning children's author, Anika Aldamuy Denise and local children's author, Alanda Posey on Saturday, March 12th at our Columbia location! Both authors will present their works with very special story times and even a meet and greet with book signings! 

PLUS enjoy a very special performance of "Neighbors: A Wildlife Show" by award-winning group, Puppet Time Machine! 

About the Authors:

Award-winning author Anika Aldamuy Denise writes stories that tickle her funny bone, tug her heartstrings, feed her curiosity, and celebrate her multicultural heritage. She is the author of ten picture books including the Pura Belpré-honor winning Planting Stories: The Life of Librarian and Storyteller Pura Belpré and A Girl Named Rosita: The Story of Rita Moreno: Actor, Singer, Dancer, Trailblazer!. Raised in Queens, New York, she now lives with her husband and three daughters in Rhode Island. Alanda Posey, founder of Soulful Beginnings LLC. and children's book author, created the Soulful Alphabet series to highlight each letter of the alphabet with topics about black culture. This is the work of the heart for Alanda , as she provides a window for others to learn, understand, and appreciate our culture. To date, 9 of the alphabet books have been self-published, including, A is for Afro, C is for Comedian, D is for Dashiki, F is for Fade, G is for Gospel, H is for Hip Hop, K is for Kinship, M is for Moonwalk, and U is for Urban. Recently, Naomi Visits Greenville was published to showcase the beautiful city of Greenville, South Carolina from a child's perspective.

Did you know that EdVenture is home to the EdVenture Children's Book Bank? We collect new and gently used children's books and distribute them to our community - for FREE!

Help EdVenture stock the shelves of the EdVenture Children's Book Bank on Saturday, March 19th. Bring in 5 new or gently used children's books to donate to the Book Bank and receive $5 admission for the day! $5 admission is valid for every 5 books donated.

Enter a world of kings and queens, pirates, princesses and fabled creatures as EdVenture transforms into a magical kingdom of storybook dreams!

Children and their grown-ups will enjoy this magical day filled with themed entertainment by performers and artisans from across the land.
